I began to express what was making me feel happy and I made a list.

Happiness is seeing the sun light from the window in the morning.
Happiness is being able to breathe, talk, hear and see.
Happiness is being able to move my legs and arms even a little bit to prevent blood clots.
Happiness is having a call light to get assistance from the nurse.
Happiness is not needing to have the IV (intravenous) needle in my arm.
Happiness is having a warm towel to wipe my face with every morning.
Happiness is being helped to take a hot shower and then putting on my pretty pajamas.
Happiness is having nothing on my schedule book.

Happiness is being able to go outside for the first time since surgery a week and a half ago

Happiness is having good skilled doctors at this hospital (NTT Higashi Kanto Hospital) who can perform surgery.
Happiness is knowing that many family and friends are thinking of me and lifting me up in their prayers.
Happiness is being told that there were people in the waiting room worried for me during my long surgery with Masaki and also knowing that people not here at the hospital (in Japan and other countries) were praying for me.
Happiness is having family and friends visit me in the hospital.
Happiness is having good memories of spending time with my sisters.



Although all of these things give me great joy and happiness which I am thankful for, I am most grateful for the happiness that comes from believing in God who loves me and cares for me.
