Prognosis

Sumiye looking outside on wheelchairOn September 23, 2009 Dr. Kimura came to explain that the growth of this cancer in my brain is very aggressive. From past MRI examinations it seems that the tumor grows about 6 times its size in 2 months. Therefore he recommended beginning radiation and chemotherapy as soon as possible. He stated that the life expectancy with radiation would be about 6 months and with radiation and chemotherapy about 13 months. I really did not want to pursue radiation nor chemotherapy because they were not treatments to cure me but only to prolong my life. Since I feel I have lived my life to the fullest, it was more important to me to have my full mental abilities to the end than to prolong my life. I didn’t want the radiation and chemotherapy to affect my good brain cells and I didn’t want to experience the possible negative side effects that would be stressful for my body.
Even when the doctor explained this diagnosis and prognosis to me, I did not feel upset or anxious. I believe it is because I know certain things from the Bible such as in Genesis 1:1 which states “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” The Bible also says that He created me. “I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalms 139:14)
As of this date, September 25, 2009, I do not know what my condition will be in the near future. I may die and be with the Lord or I may be miraculously healed but one thing is for sure, I will continue to have all this happiness and peace in my heart. I am most grateful to God who has generously given his own Son, so that all the sins of the world can be put on Him. By God’s Son shedding His blood on the cross for us, God has declared "it is enough". Now we can have a relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ. John 3:16 states “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 14:1-6 states “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the palce where I am going.”Thomas said to him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?" Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
